Dayton to Rochester and a miracle to share!

On Monday, Oct. 1st we drove from Dayton to Rochester....about 400 miles.
These are some of the sights we saw!

Some Amish riding in their buggy.
Here was a sign warning us that we might happen upon a buggy.

Here's a picture of a Rite Aid for you Robin!  All briack, built a bit different here in snow country.

We had the joy of seeing our niece, Emily at Oberlin College where she is a sophomore.  She showed us around the campus.
We had a wonderful lunch at Aladin, a Middle Eastern Restaurant, across the street from the campus.
Oberlin was a stop on the underground railroad to freedom for slaves.

In Rochester we were hosted by our good friends from UCLA, Jim and Jeanne Sutton.  Here we are at  the beach at Lake Ontario where it is was a bit drippy with light sprinkles.

A beautiful swan at Turning Leaf Park........
The miracle......when we got back from our walk at Turning Leaf Park, where we found the van with the sliding door wide open.  Jim remembered locking the doors and noting a car nearby with an obvious broken window from vandalism.  As we approached the van we knew that it had been broken into.  The miracle was that nothing was missing from the van.....including Betty's purse or anything in it, not the car keys that Jeanne left on the van floor....nothing at all.  We felt very blessed!  Thank you Lord!!!

Here are pictures of the fall colors which continue to break out, taken during our drive from Rochester to Grafton, MA.

  1. Oh, yes, the fall colors! I keep forgetting it's fall; sometimes I forget it's October. The weather back home has been getting cooler, especially in the evenings. I hope it's nice when you get back, but there won't be fall colors.
